Angelena's non-profit organization, Crystal Heart Foundation, was founded in 2014 to empower women and girls globally and create public awareness along with raising funds for victims of violent crimes and those suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as a consequence, and hence support and aid their recovery. Angelena has aligned herself with numerous international charities and has interviewed global women's rights leaders such as President Obama's Women's Equality Advisor, Tina Tchen, the

CEO of Canadian Women's Foundation, Paulette Senior, and Tony award-winning playwright and activist, Eve Ensler. A supporter of the #MeToo and #ShareHerJourney movement, Angelena attended the march in Toronto, Canada last December to lend her support and interview women and survivors of sexual abuse. Look around. Look at your women friends and family. Odds are that one in three of you has been or will be a victim of gender based violence. In some countries, the rate of this abuse is as high as 70%. But statistics are one thing. It is another when it happens to you or someone you love. I know… and that is why I am here – to share my story, to speak the truth and to make a difference. Like the moon emerging from the eclipse, let us share the victorious journey from the darkness back into the light. This is what I want for you. In fact, it is what I am all about. Your truth and your healing.

This all began for me in 2012. I was a victim of a violent crime by someone that I knew and trusted. I was almost murdered, gang raped and left for dead, but I'm not going to be silenced. I have to speak for myself, for all of us because this is so wrong on so many levels and unless we all come together as one and stand up and say this is not ok, nothing is going to change. is it? And this is how I came across One Billion Rising. and met the Founder, Eve Ensler...

I am unbelievably honored to receive these awards from Best Shorts Film Festival, Accolade Global Film Competition and IndieFEST Film Awards in the U.S. for my music video "Break The Chain". I'm not only humbled and grateful but dedicate this award to every other woman who has also endured this atrocity, as well as those who have then subsequently been ostracized by their nearest and dearest for having the courage to speak out. My heart is with you all. ❤️
